The first Committee meeting of the year was well attended and it was refreshing to see such enthusiasm for the coming season despite the obvious disappointment of narrowly missing promotion back in to the Devon League B Division last term. The meeting opened with the sad news that our President had passed away on the 29th December. The Chairman has sent a letter of condolence to the family and they have given their approval to post the following tribute on our Website Tribute to our President, WRH Wykes. They have also asked the Committee to nominate an end of season award to be presented in his memory. The Committee considered the matter of electing an Acting President for the remainder of the year and Roy Nott was voted in to cover the position, having given over 50 years loyal service to the club as a keen player, groundsman and supporter. Saturday 5th April Colts' Registration Day Culm Vale Sports Hall, Tiverton. U11s/U13s - 02.00pm to 03.00pm U13s/U15s - 03.00pm to 04.00pm. | | | | Other news in brief: The Committee welcomed Nat Davey as the new Fixture Secretary and were pleased to hear that two new signings, transferring to Bradninch from another local Devon League side, would boost the playing strength and with the continued commitment of last seasons strong first XI squad, promotion would be a very achievable goal. With further reference to the playing side, we wish Ross Acton every success in representing Devon U15s on their tour of South Africa, coinciding with the Cricket World Cup. Those attending the early net sessions at Taunton will have witnessed his progress and growing maturity as a batsman and a bowler, and this unique experience will set him up well for the 2003 Devon League campaign.
