Overseas player arrives this weekend.
Come along to this weekend's "Big Match - the
Race Night II" and meet the Club's new overseas player. Australian John
Cheadle arrives in this country at the end of the week. He will spend
the first couple of nights in Bradninch at the home of Paul and Julie
Nott. John will then attend the Club's Race Night at the Pavilion on
Saturday night - so get along and enjoy the entire Race Night atmosphere
and meet our new guy. The racing starts at 8pm, but get there early if
you want to be sure of a seat!
Nott out for May!
The Club has been dealt a major blow with the
news that Paul Nott is facing a lengthy sit on the sidelines with a
shoulder injury that has prevented him from bowling in the winter nets.

Tsunami Skittles Night gets poor response
It is disappointing to note that
a turn out of just 11 (eleven) made it to
the Sue Dawe inspired Tsunami Skittles night
at the Club on Friday February 18th. However
despite the poor turn out those that
attended had a great time and helped to
raise a magnificent sum of 65. Well done to
Sue and her fund-raising efforts and thank
you to all who did turn out.
Decorating Day 1
- A success despite limited numbers
Club Secretary Chris Dean, who also happens to be the Numero
Uno in terms of driving this VERY IMPORTANT part of the Clubs
pre-season machine, files the following report on Decorating Day 1. [MORE]

Rene says 'Thank You'
Last years Tea Lady, the lovable Rene has thanked EVERYBODY
at the Club for the wonderful bouquet of flowers that she has had after
her recent illness. She passed the message onto Club Captain Chris Acton
in a phone call.
Race Night II approaches
Saturday March 5th sees the
Pavilion host a second Race Night. The event
follows the outstanding success of the first
which was organised with aplomb by the
Club's tremendous fundraising trio of Paul
Nott, Bernadette Kent and Mark "Budgie"
Perrot. A great night is guaranteed for all.
One fun feature comes towards the end of the
evening when the various "syndicates" get
together and outbid each other, attempting
to own the top horses. One member - Steve
Birley comments:
"Last time out my
wife and I failed miserably to compete
with the syndicates, so this time we are
going to attend "mob-handed" with our
own syndicate aiming for a slice of the
action!"
Now that's the spirit.
Club to host Under 13s v Under 14s on April
16th
The Cricket Club has announced
that it will host a Regional County
Representative Match, "East Devon under-13s
versus East Devon under-14s" as a
centre-piece to the Club's "Grand Pavilion
Reopening Day" on Saturday April 16th.
This event will be an opportunity for the
Club to throw open its doors and demonstrate
just what it has to offer.
Tea Time will never be the same again
The 2005 teas will see a return
to good old-fashioned values. It is pleasing
to report that a number of Ladies have come
forward to help with the preparation,
delivery and clearing up afterwards
throughout the year.
There are 44 fixtures (the latest addition
is the Representative Game) and a number of
teas have already been claimed by
volunteers. Those dates that are untaken
will be covered by a group comprising
Bernadette Kent and her purchasing skills,
with Steve Birley and a willing band of
teenage labour! Watch this space for early
season comments on the new teas.
Coffee Morning
Don't forget that the next Coffee
Morning takes place at The Guildhall in
Bradninch on Saturday April 16th. Any cakes
that can be baked for the event really do
help to make the Club money and of course
everybody who comes through the doors makes
a big difference to how much money raised at
the event. So please, even if you cannot
attend, how about baking a cake or perhaps,
like some of the members, knock up a batch
of chutney, pickled onions, etc? All these
things can help us to raise funds. Happy
baking!

Tsunami Skittles at BCC The Pavilion is hosting a very special evening this coming Friday when a Skittles Night will be held to raise funds for the Tsunami appeal. Annie Nott, wife of Club President Roy Nott, is the driving force behind the event and she is appealing for all comers to attend and hopefully donate or indeed bring Draw prizes and/or plates of finger buffet style food. The evening starts at 8pm and ALL are welcome.
Youngsters in South Africa The Club currently has three of its younger players on "duty" with the Devon County Development squad in South Africa - Eliot Acton, James Parkin and Joe Webb, and look out for a full report on just how they got on right here from Sunday February 20th.
