Bradninch Cricket Club will find
the concept of "lost ball" a little more
expensive this coming season following the
passing away of Jackie Daniels the long term
pet of Club stalwart Robert "Hooch"
Gitshum.
"Jackie Daniels", named after the
American Bourbon, was at "Hooch's"
side for most of her 13 years and 4 months
on this planet. The pair were a regular
feature in the hedges adjacent to the
Cricket Ground, searching for lost balls,
and over the years must have saved the Club
a great deal of money in recovering match
balls that had crashed into the hedges and
fields.
The faithful canine was a regular at the
door of the Pavilion whilst "Hooch",
the Club's most famous and best, exponent of
the 'yard-of-ale' was inside!
JD lives on in spirit as she has been buried
behind the boundary line at the Ground and
so her memory and indeed her part in the
ongoing history of the Club is assured. Rest
in peace oh Jackie D! |
