Somerset and ex-England cricketer Andy Caddick will join
Cornwall Captain Tom Sharpe and over 100 volunteers at Bude
North Cornwall CC, Cornwall, for 'NatWest CricketForce 2006' on
Sunday 9th April from 11.30am 1pm. Players will be at the
club from 11.30am to 1pm and will be available for media
interviews. Work starts at 9am and continues all day Saturday
and Sunday.
Bude North Cornwall CC is one of six clubs nationwide to be
nominated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to
showcase NatWest CricketForce; the biggest annual volunteering
event in sport.
Mixing TV's 'Ground Force' and 'Changing Rooms' with cricket,
the players will swap bats for brushes and help refurbish the
pavilion. Over the weekend volunteers will repair the gravelled
access road, fit a new shower in the umpires room, and
completely refurbish the score box. Overseeing events and
ensuring fair play will be legendary umpire, David Shepherd.
The ECBs Cricket Factory, an interactive cricket coaching
and game facility will be at Bude for the day, together with a
host of activities such as the local mobile drum school. The
Bude Metric Band and the local scouts will also be in
attendance.
Andrew Caddick said NatWest CricketForce is a chance for
everyone involved with cricket to go along and help out their
local club. If we create good facilities and get everyone from
the local community involved then more and more people,
including juniors, will want to use the club.
Bude North Cornwall CC will also benefit from a new
electronic scoreboard, provided by Daktronics UK Ltd, who
supports NatWest CricketForce on a national basis.
Nationally, NatWest CricketForce brings in around 22
millions worth of investment to community cricket with over
1,000 clubs registered and an estimated 75,000 volunteers signed
up. |
