Sandford Cricket Club will once again this season field
amongst their ranks the Devon County Cricket Development Officer
following the appointment of Matt Theedom to replace Stuart
Priscott. A born-and-bred Devonian he has been through the age
group system graduating to the full county squad. More recently
as an ECB Level III Coach and Coach Tutor he has led the autumn
UKCC Cert 1 and 2 courses.
He has coached the Devon under 15 squad for the past three
seasons and has been actively involved in the age group coaching
and development programme. At club level he has been Youth
Development Officer at Sandford Cricket Club and an active
committee member having also been vice captain of the first
team. Understandably Theedom is thrilled at the appointment
and says,
It's a great opportunity and I intend to continue
building on the success of my predecessors in all avenues of
work and I am looking forward to getting started in March,
for what promises to be a very busy year ahead. I hope to
use my experience and knowledge of the local cricket set-up
to the county's benefit. I have played, coached and tutored
cricket in Devon for many years which has given me a huge
sense of pride and motivation. I am looking forward to
working with the Devon Cricket Board and all those forums,
organisations, schools, clubs and sporting partners involved
within the county.
