Chris Deans North Devon Sunday League Division Three side are
just three wins away from being crowned Champions of the North
Devon League and they could even lay claim to that tag in a
couple of weeks time when they meet Tiverton & Bickleigh on
Sunday August 13th! This is because with a perfect record to
date, the only side who can get even close to this tally is
Tiverton & Bickleigh with two defeats. It means that if the
Sunday side can beat second-bottom Shebbear, twice, in the next
two Sundays, then even if Tiverton & Bickleigh beat Bude this
Sunday and Hatherleigh away the Sunday after, then a Home win on
August 13th and the champagne corks can pop at Kensham Park.
Sundays victory at Instow was an all-round effort. A strong
Bradninch side restricted the hosts to 177-9, four wickets for
Luke Wrightson and two for Joel Murphy and then Ross Acton (77)
and Tim Piper (75 no) added 132 for the 2nd wicket to lead the
side to a comfortable six-wicket success.
Victory maintains the sides 100% record and only Division
Four Holsworthy can match that feat throughout the Five
Divisions.
Week 16 of the North Devon League sees three scheduled
Matches. We of course travel to face a Shebbear side that has a
season-long record of LLLWCLLWWLLL. Cullompton, who have slipped
into bottom spot after a no-show for their game last Sunday at
Sandford II, entertain Filleigh II and Tiverton & Bickleigh face
a Bude side that has won their last two games to climb from the
bottom into mid-table security. |
