The Club has been granted special dispensation for the immediate future to play in the Devon League A Division without a sightscreen after vandals drove a car into the sightscreen at the Kensham Park ground last weekend. The car was then set on fire and both vehicle and sightscreen destroyed in the blaze.

Chairman Derrick Foan was horrified and said,

It looked more like Beirut than our usually picturesque and tranquil ground in good old rural Devon; it's a shocking thing to happen."

Francis Clark Devon League rules say that sightscreens must be used at grounds staging Senior County Cricket. Bradninch have been granted an exemption whilst the matter is in the hands of the Police, Fire Brigade and Insurance Company.

A listing on the Devon League website is as follows -

24.07.06 Bradninch site screen destroyed...

Vandals drove a members car into the site screen and set fire to both. Police and fire brigade were called. Visiting clubs are advised that Bradninch will be without a sightscreen for future matches.
