15-year-old right-arm seamer Matt Jarrett took his first-ever senior wicket in the Sunday XIs eleventh straight win in the North Devon League Division Three. The 4-wicket win at Shebbear leaves Chris Deans side just two more victories away from a second successive promotion but the win was not as comfortable as it might have been given the opposition only had nine players!

At the scheduled start time Shebbear had just five team members present, that had only increased to nine by the time the innings closed on 75 all out. A tenth player turned up between innings and he opened the bowling as Bradninch also struggled in the damp conditions staggering to 30-5 and then 40-6.

That was the key for the experienced Joel Murphy and youthful Billy Wakeley to come together. The pair saw Bradninch safely to the win without further loss of wicket, Murphy hitting an unbeaten 30 and Wakeley a triumphant 16. Earlier three wickets had fallen to Murphy (3-21) and three to Phil Chappell (3-10) whilst Wakeley also claimed a wicket (1-12).

So two more wins will confirm what everyone has thought all season long, that Bradninch are a Sunday League Champion side and next year, barring a slip of Devon Lock proportions, they will be playing North Devon league Sunday League cricket next season where they will encounter both Heathcoat and Shobrooke Park.
