| A full
preview of this weekends Devon League games for the 1st and 2nd XI
sides. The latest Francis Clark Devon League A
Division Table reveals that another two points were docked from the
Bradninch total in Saturdays last-ball defeat at the hands of
visiting Braunton.
That means that no fewer than FIVE points have now been taken
away from the side owing to the League rule that states the overs
need to be bowled at the rate of 17 per hour. On Saturday the
visitors 50 overs were sent down in 150 minutes. The Bradninch
reply lasted 188 minutes and it was that fact, noted and documented
by the umpires that led to this deduction.
The latest A Division table shows North Devon in pole position,
they have 78 points and with South Devon just a point behind in
second place it makes Saturdays meeting between the sides at Instow
a real top-of-the-table clash.
Bovey Tracey (64pts) are third and on Saturday they host 6th
placed Abbotskerswell (55pts). We of course sit 4th with 60 points
and we entertain 7th placed Chudleigh (53points) on Saturday.
The bottom two are Axminster (49pts) and Braunton (41pts).
Axminster are involved in the East Devon Derby at Seaton (8th with
51 points) whilst Mark Lathwell's Braunton entertain 5th placed
Cornwood (56pts).
After Saturdays games are completed the League campaign will
have reached the 1/3rd mark.
The Bradninch 2nds sit proudly on top of the 2nd XI Competition
C Division and are making an early push to claim one of the two
promotion berths to complete a remarkable back-to-back pair of
promotions.
They face Plymouth Civil Service the side who sit one place below
them in the table. The other C Division games see Kentisbeare
entertain Ivybridge, Kingsbridge host Whitchurch, Bideford visit
Stoke Gabriel and Thorverton receive a visit from Plympton III. |
