The North Devon Cricket League will play in the 2007 season with
more member clubs than ever before with no fewer than five new
clubs being accepted into the league taking the overall
membership to 48 teams playing in six divisions. Halberton are
the latest Mid Devon side to join what is effectively the
countys main Sunday League and they will join our newly formed
Sunday League 2nd XI along with North Molton II's and Nomansland
(Witheridge) in the new Sixth Division. In terms of the 2006 season awards, Mid Devon individual success
is limited. Only Sandford IIs skipper Brian Leach features in
the batting and bowling honours - his bowling average of 11.63
earns him the seasons awards for Division Three bowlers. Team
honours went to North Molton (Champions of Division One),
ourselves and Sandford II (champions and runners up in Division
Three), Morebath (runners up in Division Four) and Cheriton
Fitzpaine (Champions of Division Five).
In the final monthly awards for last season Sandford picked up
the Division Three Team Award, Andy Blakes unbeaten 143 for
Tiverton & Bickleigh left him picking up the Division Three
batting award, James Mayes of Morebath collects the Division
Four batting award whilst Gary Say of Nomansland and Gordon
McGoven of North Molton II won the batting and bowling awards in
Division Five and Cheriton Fitzpaine completed a fabulous
summers work by picking up the August/September Division Five
Team Award.
Of Mid Devons competing sides Sandford and North Molton will
play in the top division, ourselves, Heathcoat and Shobrooke
Park will meet in Division Two, Incorrigibles (Witheridge),
Sandford II, Tiverton & Bickleigh and Morebath make up the Third
Division contingent whilst Cullompton and newly promoted
Cheriton Fitzpaine will do battle in Division Four. Theres no
Mid Devon interest in Division Five. |
