The Cricket Pavilion sparkled once again as the 60 guests
wondered at the splendour and set about celebrating the 2006
season at the Annual Dinner & Dance. The speeches were led by
the Chairman, who noted the important role Dick Fogden had
played in taking on the Pavilion Chairman's role in April 2004
and thanked the ladies and gents that had given so much time to
preparing the venue. New members were welcomed and Alan Bance, a
good friend and club stalwart in the 60s & 70s, was remembered
with great affection. Paul Nott took the mantle and delivered
an entertaining account of a very promising 1st XI 'A' Division
season and Nat Davey recounted another successful 2nd XI
campaign, looking forward to the 'B' Division and a third
successive promotion next year. The Sunday XI's relentless climb
to the top of the North Devon League was recognised with
separate batting & bowling awards nominated for the first time
in the Club's history.
The following list of award winners includes two 16 year olds, a
17 year old, an 18 year old and a 19 year old, highlighting the
Club's very healthy youth development policy :-
Player of the Year - Billy Wakeley
1st XI Batsman - Gary Chappell
1st XI Bowler - Sean Nowak
Ken Salter Cup - Andy Nichols
2nd XI Batsman - Robert Acton

nights of the year. |
