The cricket season is definitely over as a small working party commenced, last Sunday, the process of putting the Clubs ground to bed for the winter.

The sight screen was duly rolled down the hill and parked by the machinery shed, the cover-sheets and sack-matting were folded away, the entire square had its final cut in readiness for the close seasons re-seeding, scarifying and top-soiling (to be undertaken within the next two weeks) while the outdoor furniture and barbecue were duly parked in their winter quarters in readiness for the 2008 season.

Notwithstanding the excellent season on the field a highly creditable 4th  position in the A Division for the Saturday 1st XI, promotion for the Saturday 2nd XI to the A Division (making it three back-to-back promotions) and, finally, the Sunday 1st XI to the North Devon Leagues Division 1 (just) a little more needs to be done to the ground and the Clubs Secretary has (unfortunately!) compiled such a list to fully prepare for the 2008 season.

Thanks are due to Paul Nott, Phil Chappell, Ross Acton and, in particular, Mark Perrott for all their sterling efforts.
