There is only one way to describe the forthcoming 2008 season and that is pivotal.

With the Saturday 1st XI embarking on another Devon Cricket League (DCL) A Division campaign having finished fifth, fourth and fourth again in the last three years, we have assembled a title chasing side, with the return of Zimbabwean front line batsman, Ryan Butterworth, and the arrival of Adrian Ezquerro, an experienced Australian all rounder, fresh from playing Grade One cricket for North Sydney CC.

The youthful look of the 1st XI squad remains, with three of our top young cricketers returning from winter cricket in Perth to join the rest of the squad in April, for the completion of the intensive programme of pre-season training.

Premiere Division cricket beckons too for the Saturday 2nd XI, as with three consecutive promotions in the bag, they are just one step away from achieving an unprecedented rise from the D Division to the pinnacle of DCL 2nd XI cricket, in just four years.

The Sunday 1st XI are already there, having reached the North Devon League (NDL) Premiere Division with their third promotion in a row and with a young Captain and Vice-Captain leading the way, we can look forward to some very competitive cricket against some of the very best clubs in Devon.

To feed our future development, the Sunday 2nd XI (playing in the NDL Division Five) provides an opportunity for our colts to enjoy a game of senior cricket played in a less intense, but equally competitive manner.

Looking further in to the future, we have a full programme of matches at Under 10s and Under 11s, working closely with the local community to introduce and foster the game of cricket at an early age.

Off the field we continue to benefit from a hard working membership, committed to providing facilities aligned with the high standard of cricket aspired to. The Pavilion is looking better than ever and the ground is an absolute picture.

As an added bonus on the playing side, we are hosting the inaugural Mid-Devon 20/20 competition with ten local teams competing in this exciting form of the game. The semi-final and final will be held on Sunday 10th August and the scene is set for a very entertaining days cricket.

Whether you are a budding Andrew Flintoff, a fanatical supporter or just have a passing interest in cricket, we look forward to welcoming you to Kensham Park for another action packed season.
