The Bradninch 1st XI players have been voted the pick of the A
Division bunch by the match umpires throughout the recent season
that saw them promoted to the Premier Division of the Devon
County Cricket League for the first time in their history.
However there was only a mid-table finish for
the club when the final markings were collated with regard to
umpire markings for the 2008 season. Tavistock won both the Club
award and also picked up the Captains accolade. Skipper Joel
Murphy was edged out of 3rd spot by the smallest of margins by
the Barton skipper well done Joel for a top three finish.
The overall awards are based on marks awarded by
the match umpires throughout the season with points awarded for
pitch, facilities, skipper and team to arrive at a final figure.
In terms of a 1, 2, 3, the end of season statistics showed:
-
Tavistock
-
Cornwood
-
Braunton
-
Bovey Tracey
-
Bradninch
-
South Devon
-
Barton
-
Chudleigh
-
Alphington
-
Brixham.
The breakdown for Bradninch was (each standing
out of ten): Pitch 7th, Ground & facilities 5th, Skipper 3rd and
of course players 1st the latter saw them edge out Tavistock
with a score of 95.76 as opposed to 95.37.
You can see the full breakdown of the results on
the Devon Cricket website which can be found following the link
on the front page.
