The club is able to announce the signing of a county standard
and successful Premier Division player to help the side in their
first season of top-flight cricket next summer.
Sandford skipper Richard Foan, nephew of Derrick the Club
Chairman, has agreed to join the Premier new boys and a
delighted Bradninch Chairman says:
'It is with great excitement that I can report that my nephew
Richard is returning to play for Bradninch Cricket Club next
season and will be an integral part of our plans as we continue
to build and prepare for our first Premier League campaign.
As one of the top batsmen and finest spin-bowlers in Devon
Cricket Richard will add strength and depth in all departments
and the whole club is celebrating his return 9 years after
moving to Sandford CC. It is testament of our progress that we
are able to attract a player of Richard's high standing and it
provides a huge boost as we set about mounting a serious
challenge on Premier League cricket.'
Foan scored a century in the final game played at Kensham Park
this season when he cracked a match-winning ton in Sandfords
victory sealing the North Devon Cricket League First Division
Championship last month.
This signing is a huge coup for the club. Richard, a regular
member of the County three-day side and more often than not also
called to duty in the County one-day side brings not only
experience but real star quality and his arrival may well see
other new faces follow suit into Kensham Avenue. He was being
touted by a number of other Premier Division clubs, but now hes
ours. Welcome back Richard.
