EXMOUTH pair David Lye and Phil Anning smashed their way into
the Francis Clark Devon Cricket League record books last weekend
when the pair knocked over a longstanding partnership record.
The former Sandford duo, friends and former team mates of our
very own Richard Foan, arrived at Exmouth from Creedy Park at
the start of the season and broke a partnership record that had
stood for 21 years.
In 1989 South Devon pair Dave Webber and Jon Brimacombe put
on 206 for the 2nd wicket in the game with Plymouth Civil
Service.
Lye and Anning plundered their record-breaking tally with Lye
cracking 142 and his partner 95. Lye managed to hit one single
over for 37!
Hapless Ed Foreman sent down five wides in one over to Lye
who struck him for 4,6,4,6, 5 wides, 6, 6.
In all, the county player clubbed 13 4s and half a dozen 6s.
Exmouth remain on the fringe of the promotion berths, but,
with back to back maximum point wins behind them; they go into
the final three games of the season knowing that all they can do
is keep winning and hope that favourable results appear
elsewhere.
