Halberton & Sampford Peverell CC hosted the 6th annual Culm
Valley Schools Kwik Cricket festival on Friday 3rd of July. The
tournament, sponsored by Bradninch Spar & Post Office, saw 96
children playing cricket on eight pitches at a time. The teams
were made up from teams 7 local primary schools, Burlescombe,
Culmstock, Halberton, Hemyock, Plymtree, Sampford Peverell, and
St Andrews.
With clear blue sky and bright sunshine, the weather
was providing perfect conditions for some really good cricket,
and the teams didn’t disappoint.
The tournament consisted of six rounds of matches with two
tied matches, one of which finally decided by a bowl out, four
unbeaten teams - Hemyock, Sampford Peverell1, Burlescombe1 and
Culmstock1 - progressed to Semi-Finals.
A very dramatic final between Hemyock and Burlescombe1, 4
wickets in 4 balls in one over and some spectacular catches –
the winners Hemyock.
A big thank you to our hosts Halberton & Sampford Peverell
CC, who are to be congratulated, having recently attained
ClubMark accreditation.
