Bradninch CC hosted the second leg of the 6th annual Culm Valley
Schools Kwik Cricket festival on Friday 10th July. The
tournament, sponsored by Bradninch Spar & Post Office, saw
primary school children from Bradninch, Kentisbeare and
Silverton playing cricket.
The weather was kind providing perfect conditions for some
really good cricket, including stunning catches and high quality
batting. The tournament consisted of five rounds of matches
where the 6 teams played each other once.
After the early rounds, four teams – Bradninch 1, Bradninch 2,
Kentisbeare 1 and Silverton - progressed to Semi-Finals.
A very dramatic final between Bradninch 2 and Kentisbeare 1
resulted in a tie, with a wicket falling on the final delivery.
With each team loosing the same number of wickets, the result
could only be decided with a ‘bowl out’. Bradninch 2 held their
nerve to win the bowl out with the last delivery.
A nerve wracking contest for the spectators!
A big thank you to our hosts Bradninch CC, who are busy working
to attain ClubMark re-accreditation.
