The cricket club darts team struck an emphatic 8-1 win in their
latest match and it was only Steve ‘Biggles’ Birley who suffered
defeat on an otherwise perfect night for the side.
It all began so well as Ross ‘Atomic’ Acton, despite another
indifferent display in an unfamiliar first berth, put the side
ahead and the advantage was doubled by Alan ‘Silky’ Dowrick
before Biggles went down 2-0 to the home side best player by a
couple of hundred oches – Stuart Harding.
Eddie ‘Eagle’ Andress then restored the two leg advantage, Gary
‘Big Gaz’ Newall took it to 4-1 and Luke ‘Cool Hand’ Wrightson
claimed his game 2-1 – a thriller this on ending on good old
double one.
Into the doubles and wins for Silky and Cool Hand increased the
lead before Big Gaz paired up with Rob ‘Javelin’ Acton and the
pair produced some fine darts to overcome the strongest pairing
the home side could produce and it was left to Eddie ‘Eagle’
Andress to ensure that ‘Biggles’ Birley did not go home without
anything to smile about. The club stalwart finished both legs of
a 2-1 win for the pair who came back from 0-1 down to win the
final double and seal an 8-1 win.
