What to do in Bradninch - besides Cricket

THE VILLAGE

Actually Bradninch is a 'Town' so we'll dispense with the village tag, thank you.
There are two public houses, both very different.
  • The Castle Hotel sits at 'the top of the Town' and offers a full menu, a beer garden with bouncy castle and accepts kids, as does
  • The White Lion, found by taking a left at the top of the town as if to drive towards Exeter, you cannot miss the pub, it's at the bottom of the hill. Like the Castle it offers food and in terms of atmosphere is a little more like a wine bar than a traditional pub but is a most welcoming establishment.

If you cannot get bed & breakfast at either pub, don't panic, as both places will point you in the right directions. As mentioned above, there is also a large Londis Store complete with thriving Post Office. Londis has a warm cabinet stocked with various snacks, the shop is fully licensed and you can get a National Lottery Ticket there.

WHAT ELSE IS ON OFFER LOCALLY?
Well, if walking in forests is for you, then Paradise Woods and Ashclyst Forest both have wonderful walks and each can be reached within a ten minute journey from Bradninch.

For the younger generation 'DIGGERLAND' is easily accessible, and certainly worth a visit. Diggerland is located in Willand. This requires a drive back to Cullompton.

  • Head back into the town, do not turn right at the T-junction, and simply stay on this road (B3181) which is signposted for Willand, Uffculme, Waterloo Cross and ultimately the M5.
  • Follow it for five minutes or so, encountering two small roundabouts on the outskirts of Cullompton, then a 40mph speed limit brings you a to hill then a bridge crossing the M5.
  • You have arrived at Willand, where you will find the Fun Park approximately 500 yards on the right opposite an Esso Garage - Willand Service Station.

ST. DISEN'S CHURCH - is well worth a visit in Bradninch town where there is a fascinating link to Daniel Boone.

WHAT ABOUT THE BEACH?
Yes, we even have great access to the seaside. Exmouth with its sand, or Budleigh with its pebbles are both within a 45 minute drive from Bradninch, whilst that shopping metropolis that is otherwise known as Exeter is either a bus journey away or 15 minutes by car.

WHERE CAN I STAY?
Apart from the afore-mentioned pubs there's B & B in Bradninch and a very good Lodge at Merry Harriers (a short journey from the Cricket Ground by car).

WHAT ABOUT POST MATCH FOOD/A NIGHT OUT?
Back to Cullompton for this. There are a number of takeaways, a real 'growth industry' this in the Culm Valley: There are Chinese and Indian restaurants, which also providing takeaway, as well as other establishments offering Pizza, Fish & Chips and Kebabs. For a lively night out 'The Manor' in the centre of Cullompton takes some beating.

So there you are then, next time you visit Bradninch to take on one of its mighty Cricket
Teams just remember that there are an awful lot of other things to see and do - Cricket Widows, you have no excuse, WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU......
