36 children from local primary schools took part in the Culm
Valley Schools Kwik Cricket Festival held at Bradninch CC on
Friday 25th June. In some of the best weather since the
competition started in 2004, the following teams qualified for
the semi-finals:
Kentisbeare 1 v Kentisbeare 2
Hemyock v Bradninch 1
Kentisbeare 1 managed to get revenge, following a previous
narrow 5 run defeat to Kentisbeare 2 in round 4, by winning the
re-match by 7 runs: another close fought game.
The other semi-final between Hemyock and Bradninch 1 was even
more dramatic. A very strong Hemyock side playing excellent
cricket had already beaten Bradninch 1 by 16 runs in round 3.
Bradninch had other ideas and managed to get revenge by a 1 run
victory off the last ball of the match.
In the final match, Kentisbeare 1 unfortunately lost too many
wickets on a regular basis so victory went to Bradninch 1.
