This coming Saturday Chris Acton's side hit the roads for the last time in the 2004 campaign; not that the game with Barnstaple & Pilton will be an easy affair - although a look at the current form suggests that it will be. In their last five matches they have had just one win, one defeat, two losing-draws and a winning-draw.

Their most recent result was last Saturday's winning-draw at home to Chudleigh. The home side hit 196 with Westaway top-scoring on 92 and Chudleigh were left hanging on at 177-9, wickets to Horrell 3-24, Cole 2-38 and Dartnall 2-17.

The previous game was a losing-draw at Plymouth where the home-side's 220-6 (Horrell 2-27 and Wright 2-37) was too much for Barnstaple who were barely in it, closing on 172-9 (runs here for Westaway again, this time 44, Wright 21 and Cole 46).

Before that, Alphington travelled to North Devon and left Barnstaple with a winning-draw. The Exeter side batted first and made 185-9 (wickets for Cole 4-47 and Westaway 3-38). In the reply the home side were stuck on 150-8 at the close (runs for Horrell 41 and an unbeaten 26 from that man Westaway)

A heavy defeat came at Shobrooke Park where batting first, Barnstaple posted 193 thanks to runs from Yeo 55, Horrell 46 and Bowden 34 but they got hit by Mr. Pyle who smacked a whirlwind ton and the home side won with just four wickets down.

Five games ago they last won an outright victory down at Babbacombe where they knocked over the home side for 126 with three wickets each for Horrell and Cole and then knocked-off the runs for the loss of 6 wickets, S. Cole unbeaten on 32 and Westaway also unbeaten, on 27.
