There are new leaders of the First Division after early leaders Bradninch slipped to their first defeat of the season in a thrilling game that saw hosts Lynton & Lynmouth claim a single wicket win off the penultimate ball of the contest.

Bradninch batted first and were indebted to an unbeaten 63 from Lukas Fencl in their offering of 234-6. Support came from teenager Eliot Acton (36), his cousin Ross Acton (22), Matthew Jarrett (28no) and Zimbabwean Ryan Butterworth (27).

Former Torquay all-rounder Ed Yeo (92), Ian Hobbs (31) and Steve Hunt (26) helped keep their side in the run chase but they came to the final over of the game with their final pair at the wicket and still needing nine runs to win the match.

Nick Bowen was on strike and had Matt Ryan at the non-striker's end whilst for the visitors the final over was to be delivered by their Australian all rounder Adrian Ezquerro.

The first three deliveries were all dot' balls and the fourth was deemed a wide by the Umpire but the fifth and sixth were thumped to the boundary by Bowen and the home side claimed a nail-biting victory and with it top spot, an honour they share with Filleigh.

Bradninch 234-6 (L Fencl 63no, E Acton 36, R Butterworth 27, M Jarrett 28no, R Acton 22; D Hawkins 2-31), Lynton & Lynmouth 235-9 (E Yeo 92, I Hobbs 31, S Hunt 26; S Bailey 2-25, R Acton 2-29). Lynton & Lynmouth (20pts) bt Bradninch (10) by 1 wkt.
