The Kensham Park pavilion clock registered 6.54pm and that was sufficient for the close of play for BOTH 1st and 2nd XI teams in their respective divisions, both claiming exceptional wins what a good day for all at BCC!

There was as much interest in the extraordinary goings on at Brixham as there were on the action at home with a phone link between Roy Nott with the 1st XI and Richard Money back at HQ watching the 2nds.

Doom at gloom at 115 all out, further angst with news that the home side were 14-1 and their star batsman had been dropped behind the stumps, but another incoming call to the Money mobile a few minutes later confirmed the news that the star bat was indeed now out lbw, 14-2, 25-3 and the calls kept coming, 45-8 now thats a heart warming score, and eventually of course the news came through of the Brixham being bundled out for just 68 with Ross Acton bagging a fivefer, Adrian Ezquerro knocking over three and the other two wickets were a run out and a single wicket for Gary Chappell.

Back at HQ it was a case of THE DEANS DONE GOOD as father and son Christopher and Nick batted together and added an unbroken 69 for the 6th wicket. Chris ended up not out 60 with two massive 6s and six 4s, Dean Junior hit five 4s. Earlier runs had come from Andy Nichols (21), Ross Acton (28), Derrick Foan (29), Nat Davey (32) and Simon Bailey (35) as new 2nd XI Skipper was able to declare the innings on 257-5 after 46 overs. Then a four wicket burst was the master, Andy Nichols and some superb out field catching started by Club Chairman Derrick Foan in the gully and the 2nds claimed a comfortable victory against ten man Abbotskerswell 2nds.

This was a glorious day in the history of Bradninch Cricket Club and that is half way in the respective sides season its all looking rosy at Kensham Avenue right now.
