Spare a thought for one of the Bradninch Cricket Club stalwarts
Rob Acton.
Acton was fielding at mid off to
his son Rosss bowling in the Saturday game against North Devon
when a lofted drive was hit fiercely in his direction. In
attempting to take the catch he fell to the ground to shouts of
get up, from all his team mates, including his disapproving
son! He duly rose, gathered the
ball and returned it to the stumps but then laboured off the
pitch and headed straight for the casualty department at the
Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital where he was fund to have a badly
fractured finger which will require surgery later this week.
Best wishes got to Rob for what we hope will be a speedy
recovery. He has been the driving force behind the launch of a
cricket club darts team to play in the local Cullompton and
District Darts League in a bid to drum up additional business at
the clubs Kensham Park pavilion during the close season. |
