Sadly it does appear that the Sunday XIs stay in the top-flight of the North Devon Holiday Homes League is set to end after a single year as the battle to field a full XI goes on.

Availability has become a real problem with the side already conceding one game but they were able to field ten players for the Mid Devon Derby with Heathcoat thanks to regular supporter Alan Dowrick who helped out by becoming the sides tenth man for the game.

The visitors batted first and scored an imposing total of 304-8 led by skipper Pete Randersons (122) and supplemented by Quazim Adams (45), Matt Parkes (28) and Tom Frankpitt (20). The pick of the home bowlers were teenagers, Matt Jarrett (3-56) and Nick Dean (2-44).

Father and son combination of Chris and Nick Dean launched the post tea session one that started later than normal as the first 45 overs had taken nearly three hours to deliver!

The Deans saw the score to 38, only nine of which came from the bat, before the first wicket fell and thereafter wickets fell at regular intervals. Joel Murphy, leading by example making himself available for a weekend double, led the resistance with 35 but Chris Dean (22) apart there was not much else to shout about and the reply closed on 163 with Martyn Williams (4-33) and John Harvey (2-29) doing the damage one big positive being that the score did mean two points to the Sunday XI although it leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table which is once again headed by reigning champions Sandford who won well at Newton Tracey thanks to the all round efforts of Ryan Glass and Tianne Mostert, their South African player.

Elsewhere in the top-flight there was a second successive defeat for fancied North Devon at home to a Victoria Park side who have started well whilst Lynton & Lynmouth could only muster eight men for their game at Bideford and understandably ended up well beaten.
