Chris Acton produced a match-winning all-round performance to
take the 2nd XI to a superb five-wicket win at South Devon.
First he worked up a decent head of steam to whip out half the
home side for a total of cost of just 32 runs.
South Devon’s other batsmen did manage to put together
sufficient runs to post a reasonable total of 177.
However for ‘reasonable’ read ‘comfortable run chase’ with Chris
Acton striking a half-century, brother Rob Acton hitting an
unbeaten 27 and Chris Dean providing a solid 33 – there were
also 46 extras to help the cause – victory was achieved at a
canter with only five wickets down and a maximum-points haul of
twenty in the bag.
