There was a century scored at HQ to see out the 2009 Francis
Clark Devon League season and it was struck by former 2nd XI
skipper Nat Davey who hit an unbeaten 106 in a whopping home
total of 296-1 against 2nd XI A Division champions Cornwood.
Davey was in imperious mood seeing the ball like a football,
steering it to all parts of the Kensham park outfield.
Along with Chris Acton (77) and Nick Dean (40no), it took the
side to that huge total. Sadly it was not to end in glorious
victory though as the visitors hung on to close at 224-9 with
the wickets taken by skipper Phil Chappell (3-32), Mark Perrott
(2-46), Chris Acton (2-24), and club stalwart, the long serving
Simon Bailey, who also bagged a brace of wickets with 2-39.
So a winning draw to end an excellent campaign for Phil
Chappells side. The team finished 4th, some 54 points adrift of
the 2nd placed side, Paignton and 2010 looks like being another
good season.
The 2nds will face Hatherleigh and Budleigh Salterton who were
relegated from the Premier Division, and also Tavistock and
Abbotskerswell, who were the promoted sides from the B Division.
