The 2nd XI slipped to a disappointing defeat at home against
Barton II who bowled the hosts out for 62 and knocked them off
for the loss of just three wickets.
It must be recorded that the side were well below usual strength
as a number of players had been required to help boost numbers
in the 1st XI.
Batting first the home side were whipped out for just 62 with
only Bill Leathes (25) offering any serious resistance. There
was a cameo appearance for the hosts by Willand Rovers' midfield
star Danny Jee, whilst Jordan Rose was also pressed into service
in a most unfamiliar of home line-ups!
Andy Nicholls was the most successful of the home bowlers,
claiming two of the three visiting wickets to fall as Barton
eased to a seven wicket win.
One moral victory was that it took the visitors almost 15 overs
MORE than the home side had used up in making their total.
Hopefully selection will be a little more comfortable prior to
the next game for the 2nd XI, Saturday's trip to Plymouth III.
