Bradninch 2nd XI, for once, took centre stage on Saturday night
at the club’s Kensham Park headquarters after they claimed a
second success of the 2nd XI A Division season, beating visiting
Abbotskerswell by 65 runs.
Batting first there were runs down the order with no fewer than
three half-centuries as Nat Davey (63no), Syed Hussain (59) and
Lukas Fencl (58), all qualified for the 'jug buying' tag.
The hosts closed on a commanding 244-5 and then bowled out the
visitors for 179 with former 1st XI skipper Chris Acton, uncle
of 1st XI captain Ross, rolling back the years to claim 3-17.
Mark Perrott bagged a brace, as did Hussain to complete a fine
all-round individual effort, and Phil Chappell’s side banked a
maximum haul of 20 points.
The win lifts them 29 points clear of the bottom two and next up
is Saturday’s trip to Plymstock for a game that marks the
reaching of the half way point in this season's Devon League
campaign.
