Source: Stephen Birley Bradninch 2nd XI
emulated the feat of the club’s 1st XI by taking all available
twenty points from their A Division visit to Plymstock.
The hosts batted first and laboured to a close of 188. The
evergreen Simon Bailey took the bowling honours with a four
wicket haul. Bailey’s 4-18 and a brace of wickets for Chris
Acton (2-27) helped ensure that the hosts were dismissed for a
'gettable' total.
It was former 1st XI skipper Chris Acton (uncle of the
current club Captain, Ross) who then took centre stage with the
bat. After tea Acton who has spent much of the past couple of
years battling various injuries, has been building up a head of
steam this term and it all came good in South Devon as he
enjoyed the perfect batting conditions to strike an imperious
unbeaten 82.
The best of the support came from Syed Hussain who continued
his good form this term with 40 and the evergreen Andy Nicholls
who chipped in with 33 as Bradninch sailed to an eight wicket
win, a second successive A Division victory.
