Source: Stephen Birley Bradninch bounced
back from the previous day's disappointing defeat at Braunton in
the Premier League and bagged themselves a last-four place in
the Devon Senior Cup with a nine wicket win over Exeter at
Kensham Park.
A clearly under strength Exeter side travelled out to Mid
Devon and were invited to bat and were unceremoniously bundled
out for 65 in 27.2 overs with Eliot Acton claiming 4-12, taking
the bowling honours.
The other bowlers to take wickets were Gary Chappell (2-9),
his father, Phil Chappell (1-9), Jacobus Pienaar (1-14) and
skipper Ross Acton (1-11).
Eliot Acton was then out without troubling the scorers but
that was the final wicket to fall in the contest as Richardt
Saaiman, playing his last innings for the Mid Devon side before
he and fellow South African teenager Pienaar depart the country,
struck an unbeaten 30 including the winning runs with a superb
drive to the boundary.
The other not out batsman at the close was Australian Haydn
Murray (20no).
