Source: Stephen Birley Bradninch bagged a
place in the Twenty20 Devon Finals Day at Cornwood Cricket Club
on Saturday August 15 after a twelve run victory over North
Devon at Kensham Park on Thursday evening.
The hosts had their youngest player to thank for what proved
to be a match-winning contribution as Matt 'Streethawk' Jarrett
struck a typically explosive 31, the same total hit by Dan Hardy
with Gary Chappell chipping in with 22, the home side were able
to close on 121 losing their final wicket off the final ball of
the innings.
Eliot Acton then claimed three wickets and both Phil Chappell
and Ross Acton bagged a brace each as North Devon were bowled
out for 109.
The win means that Bradninch now face successive Sundays at
Cornwood CC. They must first visit the ground for a Devon
Premier Cup (40 over) semi-final with the hosts on Sunday August
8. Seven days later they will return to the venue to face
Plymouth, Abbotskerswell or Tavistock and either of Sidmouth or
Brixham in the Final of the Devon Twenty20 competition.
The victorious team from the Devon Finals Day then moves on
to the Maer ground, Exmouth for the regional Final a week later
(Sunday August 15) where the draw sees the Devon Champions meet
the Cornish Champions in the first semi-final.
The second semi final that day will be between the South
Wales and Somerset Champions with the day's ultimate winner
advancing in the national competition that has Sky TV coverage
on the National Finals day!
