Bradninch II can do no more than keep winning
their A Division games and hope for a slip up by
Budleigh II in the race to go up with
Hatherleigh.
Tavistock were the visitors to Kensham Park and
they were bowled out 112 in a game that saw a
nasty facial injury sustained by Bradninch
wicket keeper - and Club Secretary - Chris Dean
who needed treatment at the Royal Devon & Exeter
Hospital after being hit in the eye.
It was Mark Perrott (4-21), Syed Hussain (4-31)
and the veteran Andy Nicholls (2-28) who
combined to see off the visitors and then Rob
Acton, father of 1st XI skipper Ross, who led
the hosts home with an unbeaten 39. Lukas Fencl
hit an unbeaten 33 and there was a cameo knock
of 17 from teenager Matt Jarrett as Bradninch
won by six wickets.
With three to play Phil Chappell’s side are
fourth but with the side currently second,
Plymouth, unable to be promoted as they have a
side already in the top flight, it looks a
straight scrap between Budleigh and Bradninch to
go up with Hatherleigh.
Bradninch have three to play starting with
Sidmouth III away and then they go to
Abbotskerswell before completing the season at
home to Plymstock.
Budleigh go to Hatherleigh this weekend, then
host Plymouth III before finishing with a trip
to Tavistock.
