Bradninch made sure that their time in the top
flight of Francis Clark Devon League cricket
will run into a third season after a comfortable
win at Exeter.
In beating the hosts by 107 runs Bradninch also
nudged the County ground side a little nearer
relegation.
Bradninch scored 225-4 with the bulk of the runs
coming from Haydn Murray (71) and Gary Chappell
(61) - the pair adding 121 for the third wicket.
However, what will be of concern to skipper Ross
Acton is that yet again far too many batsmen
registered single figure scores, indeed only
opener Eliot Acton (22), made it into double
figures.
As it happened the visiting total was way too
many for the hosts to take on, especially with
skipper Acton in destructive mood.
The left-armer sent down 11.1 overs and claimed
5-13, knocking the stumps over three times, as
Exeter were bowled out for just 118 in 39.1
overs.
The Kensham Park men are now safe sitting
fourth, 81 points adrift of leaders Sidmouth and
a comfortable 40 clear of second bottom Exeter
with three to play.
This weekend Acton’s side play their penultimate
home game of the season when they entertain
Bovey Tracey.
