In the Premier Division, the highest echelon of County Cricket in Devon, SANDFORD go into the 2005 campaign in search of a 3rd successive Championship and a fourth in five years. The only other Premiership "Winners" in the past four years are Exmouth and the ten-team top Division contains not a single team that has tasted anything lower than 'A' Division Cricket in each of the past four seasons.
The two sides promoted into the top flight, Seaton and Braunton will be playing at the highest level for the first time in recent history, and the History books seem to suggest that it will be something of a difficult campaign for the promoted pairing as in the past four seasons only Exmouth have enjoyed a "successful" first season as a promoted Club, finishing a lofty 4th in 2004, whilst Abbotskerswell (2003) went straight back down and North Devon (2003) escaped a similar fate by the narrowest of margins. Budleigh Salterton (2004) also ended the season just one place off a quick return to the 'A' Division.
