Midweek XI in entertaining game with Bourneville
Liam Reed led the Midweek XI in a wonderful game full of runs against touring side Bourneville. The visitors batted first and powered their way to an imposing 287-8 from their 40 overs with their opening bat scoring 146 – at one stage, they were 110-0 and he had 90 of them!
The bowling green surface was struck half-a-dozen times during his knock! Euan Tinley claimed a four wicket haul for the Reed XI.
There was also a stunning catch held down by the groundsmans shed by Toby Dennis.
Bourneville did not have it all their own way as the home side also made run scoring look easy. Lautaro Musiani and Will Birley opened things up with a 48 run partnership before Birley – one of two players desperate to get away to enjoy ‘Doblefest’ – holed out for 18.
The young Argentinian (Musiani) hit the ball true and hard before he succumbed for a splendid 48.
Further runs came from Euan Tinley (42), Nathan Jennner (36) and skipper Reed (33) as the home side closed on 230 in what was a most enjoyable game.
