The last time that Bradninch CC teams took to the pitch for Saturday, June 20 action was back in the 2015 season when both XIs suffered defeats.
The 1st XI went down by one wicket away at Cornwood while the 2nd XI succumbed to a 54-run defeat at home to Sidmouth III.
Down at Cornwood, Bradninch batted first and closed on 233-5 after 47 overs with the top score coming from the bat of number five, Tim Piper, with an unbeaten 67, scored from 78 deliveries with nine fours and one six. There was also a 43-ball 55 from Luandre Van Wyk who hit five fours and three sixes while other contributions came from Charlie Walker (31) and Chris Metters (28).

It was third change Will Squire who so nearly turned the game the way of his side as he returned figures of 4-36 from 9.5 overs while Lawrence Greenway’s return was 3-23 and there was a single wicket each for Ross Acton and Luandre Van Wyk.
Back at Kensham Park, the 2nd XI entertained a Sidmouth III side that batted first and closed on 211 with their innings totally dominated by opener Isaac Thomas who was last man out for 148. Two home bowlers each claimed four wicket hauls; Rob Acton (4-34) and Will Birley (4-55).
Birley then top-scored from the number six berth with 30 and number eight Luke Wrightson chipped in with 29, but the ‘best of the rest’ was 15 scored by both Derrick Foan and Rob Acton — the latter retiring hurt.
