Next up for Chris Acton and his high-flying 2nd XI is a Kensham Park meeting with a Seaton II side that won last weekend by a whopping margin of 304 runs!
Playing Axminster II in a B Division (East) derby, Seaton, last year’s D Division East winners, racked up an impressive 3335-7 with 15-year-old Sam Goodier scoring an unbeaten 129 and skipper Ian Hunt chipping in with 61. They then bowled out the visitors for just 31.
In terms of the other matches played in the division on match day three of the Tolchards Devon League season, Thorverton II made it two wins from two with a 24-run win over Bideford II. The Thors scored 214-9 with an unbeaten 84 from S Green and then Bideford were bowled out for 190 with skipper John Weeks and Martyn Stanbury both contributing knocks of 31.
Braunton, who Bradninch visit on the final Saturday of May, also claimed a second win in as many outings with a 109-run win over Chudleigh. A knock of 96 from N Cross led Braunton to a close of 236-7 after which Chudleigh laboured to 132-8.
Sidmouth III suffered a first defeat of the season, beaten by Alphington II with the winning margin being a whopping 10-wickets!
Sidmouth were bowled out for 93 (422 of which were extras!) and the Alphas eased their way home without loss of wickets!
