Club chairman Derrick Foan produced a special night of skittling as the club team claimed a win that secures their place in the top flight of the Sampford Peverell and District Skittles League.
The team won 512-482 against the Queens Head from Tiverton, with ‘Vicar’ equalling the alley record for an individual skittler – knocking down 94 pins.
Derrick recorded scores of 15 and17 in the first two runs. Then scored a 22 and a nine before finishing with a 15 and a 16.
His 94 equalled the alley record which had been set this season by Mike Collins from the Bellies team.
On a night of high scoring Phil Chappell recorded a four-spare (one an 18), 78 and Mark ‘Budgie’ Perrott scored a three-spare 67.
On the down side the Acton brothers, Rob and Chris, were unable to muster a spare between them with Rob taking the wooden spoon for his 47 which was two fewer than the 49 of Chris.
The other home scores were a three-spare 63 from Dave Trump and a two-spare 61 from Chris Hatherley.
The Bellies had scores from 74 (D Buckingham) down to one of 47.
