Matchday three in the Tolchards Devon League and the 1st XI host Barton CC. Tim Piper’s men, having won two from two, go into the game with fourth-placed Barton missing Dan Hardy and Lawrence Greenway.
Bradninch top the table having banked all 40 points available so far.
The skipper, speaking to the Devon Cricket website said:
“Barton beat us twice last year so we are wary of them.”
“They’re not a team with superstars, but they have plenty of very decent cricketers with a fair bit of experience. We’ll have to play well to win, but we are on a bit of a roll and anything but a win would be disappointing.
We’re a better team on paper than them, that’s for sure, but that’s not where cricket games are won. If we play anything like we did in our first two fixtures though, I think we’ll make it three from three.
It’s a good chance for someone else to step up, who hasn’t had a good opportunity yet, and show the club’s depth in squad this year.”
The 2nd XI travel to a Shobrooke Park II side that sits fifth in the fourth tier of 2nd XI cricket, two places and three points better off than BCC.
The 2nd XI are without Bryn Jones (holiday) and Alex Dunlavey (injury) whilst regular skipper Chris Acton – who played in the 1st XI last week, stays with the senior side and both the 2nd XI openers last week, Thom Bunker and Mark Ashplant, are called up to the 1st XI also.
