Club gets terrific markings on ground and playing matters

The halfway stage of the Tolchards Devon League campaign has seen the release of the marks afforded to Premier Division teams for the conditions of their grounds after eight matches this term – and also the way the team ‘behaves’ and, we are delighted to announce, Ninch sit highly placed in both categories – so it’s ‘hat’s off and much congratulations’ to groundsman Alan Dowrick and skipper Gary Chappell.

We sit fourth in the ground charts behind Exeter, Sidmouth and North Devon – but it’s mighty close with just four per cent between us (86%) and the other two (both 90%). There’s then quite a gap – in percentage terms – to fourth placed Heathcoat (80%). Exmouth sit rock-bottom of the list with (63.75%) and table-topping Bovey Tracey sit second-bottom on 66.25%.

It’s even better news in the category of respect for umpire, opposition teams, the team management and co-operation with the umpires as we sit just over half a per cent below North Devon.

The top three in terms of the respect marks are: North Devon (99.38), Ninch (98.75) and Exeter (98.13). As for the bottom three – well, that includes the only two teams above us in the top-flight table – Bovey Tracey and Exmouth – who, along with Paignton, score 91.88% marks!
