Here’s a report on the BCC colts that travelled to Sandford on May 7 for a fixture: The report comes from colts’ supremo Nat Hunt.
We took 13 enthusiastic players to Sandford CC on Sunday 7th May, to play a couple of friendly fixtures. Some of the players had only started training a week or two beforehand, and so were a bit nervous, but they had a great time and played some great cricket.
We saw some brilliant bowling, with wickets from Harry, Thomas and Joel in the older players match. Every single player impressed with their very accurate bowling. For this age group to bowl as few wide balls as they did is remarkable. Even the new players Courtney and Joel bowled over arm very well and showed improvement still in their second over. The champagne moment of the morning was a stunning catch by George! Very well held indeed!
The batting was also good, with boundaries scored by Eloise and Harry, and good running with Johann and George managing to run a couple of 2s, and Harry and Grainger picking up lots of singles. A bit more batting practice all round, and these guys and girls will be a formidable bunch!
In the younger players’ match (which I couldn’t watch as I was umpiring the other match) all players did very well and had a great time! All batted well, with Daniel and Josh scoring the most runs with 26 in their 4 overs. All players tried hard with their bowling, and the umpire was impressed with the bowling from Jake, who has just turned 8! Great job everyone!
Many thanks to all the parents who drove the children to Sandford and supported them.
