The cricket club are the new holders of the Sampford Peverell and District Skittles League Knockout Cup after a 415-390 victory over Globe Appley B.
Globe were first on the alley and made a steady start. The cricketers were two pins up after two legs, but then came a response and the Globe led by a single pin after four visits each to the alley.
It was now that the cricket club team came to the fore and struck with six spares, posting 80 and 85 over the last two legs to take the trophy by 25 pins.
Chris Acton, (2nd XI captain fantastic) scored 64 – the top score of the final and for that he picked up a trophy before team captain, club chairman, Derrick Foan, stepped forward to lift the coveted KO Cup trophy – first played for in 1951, high into the night sky!
‘Vicar’ also picked up a trophy for his 94 scored earlier in the season – that proved to be the joint highest of the campaign.
