The cricketing skittlers were in terrific form in their latest Sampford Peverell and District Skittles League match when they saw off visiting Globetrotters by 20-pins in a match that saw ‘sticker-up’ Liam Reed replace no fewer than 984 pins!
Eddie ‘Eagle’ Andress was the star of the show as he fired a spectacular 93 – just one shy of the club record still held by cricket chairman Derrick Foan. The Eddie score included no fewer than FIVE spares – one of them a 24 – and he was 14 pins ahead of the ‘best of the rest’ on the night which was a four-spare 79 from Rob Acton. Derrick Foan chipped in with a two spare 60 and Phil Chappell contributed a single spare 56.
Will Birley (two spares) and Chris Acton (one spare) both returned scores of 55 and Dave Trump had a one spare 54. Ryan Shrewsberry was the lowest score on the night, but he still chalked up a half century. For the Globetrotters, they actually had a no fewer than five of their skittlers into the 60’s, but that Eddie Andress huge score made sure the winning team was the home team!
