Dan Hardy has taken over as skipper of the Bradninch CC 1st XI and he will lead them into the 2015 Francis Clark Devon League season.
Dan, eldest son of the well known Pete Hardy (a living legend woven into the fabric of the old Bradninch Sports and Social Club), has played at the club since starting as a colt and has played every season since save for a spell away when he was working overseas.
A gifted batsman who keeps and wicket and bowls, he has represented Devon at all levels.
His high point in county cricket arguably came on June 23, 2008, when he scored an unbeaten 95 playing for Devon Under-21s against a Somerset 2nd XI that included Andy Caddick and Joss Butler. Butler had earlier hit a 44-ball 50, Dan achieved his half-century in 78 balls. His unbeaten 95 included 13 fours and he was at the crease for 1823 minutes and faced 135 balls.
He also played for the County at Under-15 and Under-17 level. On July 21, 2004 he was in the Devon Under-15 team that faced a Warwickshire Under-15 team that included England’s Chris Woakes. Dan – playing as a wicket-keeper batsman, was unbeaten on 15 at the close.
The club 1st XI vice-captain for 2015 will be Will Greig
