Hartshorn set for spell on side lines after injury

Bradninch 2nd XI have received a blow with the news that Matt Hartshorn picked up a badly fractured finger in the 10-run defeat at Feniton on Sunday and will miss the start of the new campaign.

The batsman has spent the winter working hard in the nets at the Devon Cricket Centre and there were high hopes that he’d enjoy a good season.

It is thought the injury happened when he made a brave attempt to take a catch off the bowling of off-spinner William Birley, a powerfully hit strike by the Feniton half-centurion Brian Cann.

It’s a case of best wishes to Matt for a swift recovery from all at Kensham Park.

It’s another blow to 2nd XI skipper Bryn Jones who is already without the services of Rob Acton who is recovering after eye surgery, but who hopes to take some part in the 2014 season.
