There’s been what looks to be a MASSIVE U-turn by the Tolchards Devon League with regard to the proposal to restructure the league from the 2018 season.
The league has circulated a release which reads: “ Withdrawal of this proposal – The Tolchards Devon Cricket League wish to withdraw the proposal, below, from the list of proposals for consideration at the League Annual General Meeting on 27th January 2017. Instead, we wish to table a proposal for a single tier structure for the League at an EGM which will be held in April 2017.
The reason for withdrawing this proposal is to allow for further consultation with clubs on where their teams might best be placed within a single tier structure.
This consultation period will commence at the end of January 2017 and run throughout the month of February, possibly into early March.
The aim would be to have a refreshed proposal to put to clubs at an EGM in April. If accepted, then this option would still give member clubs the knowledge of where their teams would be placed in 2018, before the commencement of the 2017 season.”
So there we are then – it seems we now wait and see what the EGM decides in April of next year.
