JILL SYMONS – Rest In Peace

We are so sorry to report the passing of another of the cricket club’s biggest supporters – JILL SYMONS.

Jill was a regular follower of the club’s fortunes and particularly keen on all things BCC 2nd XI. There was nowt she would not do to support the youth teams – as former colt Will Birley explained saying:

“Jill was a real fan – I know that if ever she noticed something needed doing, from drinks to kitchen help – she was there.”

Steve ‘Biggles’ Birley added:

“Kensham Park – certainly on 2nd XI days, will be far less colourful without Jill in attendance. She’d also have loved the Sunday XI game at her ancestral home of Thorverton we have planned for late July – where she played for the club in a friendly a few seasons ago.”

The final word comes from club vice chairman Paul Nott who says:

“Jill was such a great supporter of everything we did. Her not being around next season is going to feel strange as she was certainly the sort of cricket club person you’d describe as being ‘part of the furniture’.”
