Record-breaking batsman Jackson Thompson is set to play once again at Kensham Park. That’s because JT and his new team mates will visit Bradninch for a Tolchards Devon Cup 1st Round meeting.
Thompson set a new Francis Clark Devon League record last season with a double hundred at Kensham Park in the game with Budleigh Salterton. He left the club after one season when offered a lucrative berth at Premier side Cornwood.
Sunday, June 8 is the date of the game and Under-15 skipper Will Birley cannot wait to see the big hitter in action – as long, of course, as he ends up on the losing team!
“I enjoyed watching JT so much last year. I didn’t see the games he played as we had 2nd XI matches, but watching him in the nets was inspiring as was playing alongside him in the Tuesday night T20 competition. It’ll be a pleasure to be able to see him again on our wicket. Hopefully he’ll treat us to a few big hits, but then we’ll nail him and go onto win the game.”
The winners of the June 8 game will the be at home in the last eight with the opposition set to be the winners of the Torquay versus Plymouth match.
The top half of the drawer also means that a semi-final opponent for one of Cornwood, Bradninch, Torquay or Plymouth will come from one of Paignton, Axminster, Brixham, Barton, Exmouth, Tavistock, Heathcoat, Ivybridge, Chudleigh or Sidmouth.
